Words that Work - Alicia Eaton Book

“When I heard that Alicia Eaton was writing another book for parents I was excited as I love her ‘Stop Bedwetting in Seven Days.’ Her new book is an easy read with some wonderful insights and I particular love the chapter about the power and influence of your words on a child’s life. The exercises are fun, simple and will surprise you! A great read and I highly recommend that you grab your copy now and enjoy playing around with words that work.” Sue Atkins – ITV ‘This Morning’ Parenting Expert, Author of ‘Parenting Made Easy’.

“This is a very informative and useful book for any parent of young children new to NLP. Packed with examples and alternatives to the usual knee jerk replies we all find ourselves lapsing into from time to time, Alicia will make you consider what you say and how you say it.” Felix Economakis – Counselling Psychologist: BBC’s ‘The Panic Room’ and ‘Freaky Eaters’ and author of ‘Harden Up’.

“This is a book all parents should read. It is easy to understand, even easier to follow and holds your hand all the way through. Simple strategies with rewarding outcomes.” Lorrine Marer – Children’s Behavioural Specialist: Channel 5’s ‘The Teen Tamer’ and ‘Families Behaving Badly’.

“If you have children this book will save you a lot of time, a lot less tears, and allow you to fully enjoy the wonderful experience of being a parent. I have read all of Alicia’s books, and they are all wonderful. Her latest book ‘Words That Work’ is even better. Reading it was a bitter-sweet experience though, for she describes just about every example that children use to drive their parents crazy and my two children ticked almost every box. I wish this book and its toolkit had been around when I needed it most. How much easier it would have been if I knew then what I know now.

Alicia has the gift of explaining complex psychology in an engaging and interesting manner. My favourite part of the book was the section about hypnosis. This was beautifully written. Children are very successful at hypnotising their parents, and now you will discover how to turn the tables on them. In the nicest possible way of course.” Dr Stephen Simpson – Elite Performance and Confidence Expert, NLP Trainer, Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.

“Alicia has provided a framework for parents and teachers that will improve communication skills and create a clear structure for providing honest, two way interactions with children that will, over time, reshape family dynamics in an incredibly positive way. Don’t be fooled into thinking this book is your average parenting advice. Despite tackling common problems, this resource is laced with clever psychological solutions that once mastered, any parent can utilise with ease”. Gemma Bailey – Founder and Director of ‘NLP4Kids’

“Having interviewed Alicia for the Happy Family World Summit 2015, I was left with some profound advice for my finger-sucking daughter for which I had tried nagging, incentivising, reprimanding, even putting nail biters nail polish on and showing her horror pictures of wonky teeth, all to no avail. One day I thought I’d try Alicia’s suggestions and said, ‘Isabelle isn’t it lovely when you have dry fingers.’ She looked at me slightly confused, took her fingers out of her mouth, looked at them, dried them and DID NOT put them back in to her mouth! This breakthrough and subsequent similar statements has made a MASSIVE difference to her habit! I was left wanting more and this book filled the need perfectly. I have never heard anyone simplify NLP in such an easy, accessible and practical way as Alicia and I have not had so many lightbulb moments since I read ‘How to talk so your kids will listen and listen so your kids will talk.’ This book has already had a really positive effect on my family and even the way I speak to myself and it will definitely be recommended to many of my own clients. Fabulous work Alicia thank you so much!”Elizabeth Mary Hancock – The Emotional Freedom & Transformation Coach, Creator & Producer of ‘The Happy Family World Summit’.

“Bravo Alicia! ‘Words that Work’ is a wonderfully written honest account from first-hand experience, of the trials encountered on the journey of being a parent without a guidebook. Well, up to now that is, as here is an example of how the parent-child relationship can be a truly remarkable experience if a little understanding of language is applied. The expert language patterns that Alicia teaches you, will help you to speak your child’s language that for most, is almost like learning a foreign language. This book will give you that ‘edge’, the added knowledge of powerful communication to pass on to your children, which in itself, is also something of tremendous value.

I will recommend ‘Words that Work’ to my students and clients and every parent I know with great enthusiasm and excitement.” Tom Barber, DHp, M.A – Director of Contemporary College of Therapeutic Studies (Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy and Counselling) Bestselling Author and Founder of The MINDMASTER Method.

Stop Bedwetting in 7 Days BookStop Bedwetting in 7 days is a very good book. I have found it to be clear and effective and indeed recommend it to a number of my patients who feel it’s very useful. A useful addition to the tool box.” Dr Anne Wright, Consultant Paediatrician in charge of Children’s Neuropathic Bladder Service,Evelina Children’s Hospital: Guy’s & St. Thomas’s NHS Trust

Stop Bedwetting in 7 days is a must have for parents struggling to handle bedwetting. This great book is bursting with practical advice and simple ideas that really work. A wonderful way to handle the ups and downs of bedwetting so your child learns to succeed. Sue Atkins – ITV ‘This Morning’ Parenting Expert

“I just wanted to say thank you! I heard about your book through the Adoption UK website. My 8 year old son was placed with us for adoption 12 months ago. He had never been dry and was in pull ups every night. He managed 6 months of mainly dry nights and no pull ups after a month of using a bed alarm but started wetting again back in June of this year. He listened to your audio recording for the first time last Thursday night and has now had 4 dry nights, sleeping through and waking to go to the toilet in the morning. He’s chosen not to wear pull ups for the past 3 nights and is thinking of putting them all in the bin (hooray!) After months of sopping wet sheets and waking up to a house smelling of wee this has made such a difference to our son and our family so thank you!” Rachel E. Surrey, UK

“Charlie has been on your programme finishing day 7 last saturday and throwing away his pull-ups as requested. He has had 4 wet nights and 4 dry nights since. He listens to the recording each night and we talk daily about his progress. I think he was hoping for no more wet nights ever. But as I say to him, after nearly nine years of wet nights one week of 50% dry nights is a huge achievement. So we take each day as it comes. I think the main thing your book has done for us is to focus us both together to the same end. He is a very clean person since being tiny and the wet beds upset him deeply, which is one reason the pull-ups have stayed for so long. Anyway, thanks for the book. Its made me address some of my own judgemental voices which has been great.” Kind regards, Abigail

“Heard you on Radio 4 and bought the book as soon as I could.  Our daughter is nearly 11, the 3rd of 4 children. In spite of never having had a dry one, we threw the pull-ups out on January 1st and then struggled until we started with your book just over 2 weeks ago. From January until trying your method 16 nights ago, we tried an alarm once and then resorted to lifting her before we went to bed as this made a real difference and generally kept her dry. However, I agree with your reasoning and instinctively knew that this was not solving the problem.  She really enjoyed the exercises in your book and I think all that you write makes sense and can understand why it works. I feel she is doing really well and that we are well along the path to success. Can’t think of any link with those wet nights, they weren’t late nights or away from home or anything obvious, probably just part of the journey to dry nights.” Kind regards, Lucy Henshore, Edinburgh

“Stop buying shares in the Huggie corporation folks! We appear to have had success with this book as our child has had no wet nights since about 12 days after starting the program. Our child was a constant bed wetter so it’s a complete turnaround. There is no extra charge for the audio file and the book is reasonably priced. Why didn’t someone come up with this sooner!!!” Jonathon, Bristol

We are on day four and 3 out of the 4 days have been dry so far after weeks of bedwetting (we gave up pull-ups in the summer). He is really enjoying the book and drawing the pictures and all the practical advice is making a big difference. It also takes very little time and effort considering what a difference it seems to be making. I think this book may have saved me – I have a serious insomnia problem and have had my first few nights of uninterrupted sleep for ages (He is now 5 1/2yrs).

I can’t begin to thank you enough.

Alicia,

You’re completely brilliant. I really appreciate your helpful reply. We decided last night to set two speakers beside the bed because the volume button at its highest hadn’t worked – and he was dry. You’re absolutely right. He’s a very determined child – I think he’s pleased to realise this determination can help him here.

Many thanks,

Trudie

Hi Alicia,

I have 4 children, of whom 2 boys (aged 7 and 10) have been bedwetting up until now.

We are working through your programme…and so far…have seen a marked improvement in both boys! The most significant change is that both boys are waking during the night to go to the toilet. This is a new development for both boys, especially the older one, who is a very heavy sleeper. We have had the odd wet bed, but the tendancy is increasingly heading towards dry beds and we are continuing with the recording and with the positive reinforcement.

My disappointment is that this system has not been recommended to us before…even though we have repeatedly sought help from the medical profession. I would love to see GP’s made aware of your book, so that they can offer this as a constructive tool to help parents like myelf, who have struggled for years.

Yours truly

Julia

Dear Alicia

Thanks for the email. Heard you on radio 4 and bought the book as soon as I could.

Here is our ‘story’ so far:- dry, wet, wet, dry, dry, dry, dry, dry, wet, dry, dry, dry, dry, dry, wet, dry – that is 16 nights, 4 wet, 12 dry.

I feel she is doing really well and that we are well along the path to success. Can’t think of any link with those wet nights, they weren’t late nights or away from home or anything obvious, probably just part of the journey to dry nights.

Will let you know when we have the magic 14 nights in a row.

Kind regards,
